Windows Tips
Here's a list of practical tips for Windows:
Faster Startup
Go to the Start menu, choose Run, type msconfig, and press Enter.
This allows you to manage startup programs. Disable non-essential
programs that automatically start when Windows boots up.
Create Desktop Shortcuts for Easy Access
Right-click on any application or file, choose "Create
Shortcut", and then drag the shortcut to your desktop for quick
access.
Use Disk Defragmenter
Regularly run Disk Defragmenter to
optimize the performance of your hard drive. Find it under Start
> Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk
Defragmenter.
Adjust Virtual Memory Settings
Boost performance by manually
adjusting the virtual memory (paging file) settings. Go to Control
Panel > System > Performance tab > Virtual Memory and set
the minimum and maximum to the same value, around 2 to 2.5 times
your physical RAM.
Master Keyboard Shortcuts
Enhance your efficiency by learning keyboard shortcuts. For
instance, Ctrl + Esc opens the Start menu, and Alt + Double Click
opens the properties for the selected item.
Back Up Your Data Regularly
Regularly back up your critical files. Copy important documents to a
floppy disk, another hard drive, or external media.
Fine-Tune How Files are Displayed
Adjust the way files and folders are displayed by changing the
settings in any folder window under View > Options. Choose between
large icons, list, or details format.
Use Right-Click Menus
Maximize productivity by using right-click context menus to quickly
access commands like cut, copy, paste, and properties.
Install Reliable Antivirus Software
Install and maintain antivirus software to protect your system from
viruses, as internet threats are becoming more prevalent.
Check back often for regular updates!
